Jesi Hanley Vega
Jesi's biracial/multiethnic background deeply informs all her work, fueling her passion for exploring voice, identity, and connection in nonfiction, fiction, and onstage. For over a decade, she has used her platform to promote multicultural storytelling, identity exploration, and cultural hybridity through her work as a writer, editor, and workshop facilitator.
Her screenwriting achievements include Jersey Grrrl, an Academy Nicholl Fellowship quarterfinalist screenplay, and Greetings from the Shore, featured at Park City's Digidance Film Festival. Jesi has performed onstage at The Moth and her writings exploring biracial and immigrant identities appear in the Blue Cactus anthology “We Need a Reckoning,” Quincy Manor Publishing’s “This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land,” and the Intersect column on WomenWhoSubmitlit.org.
Jesi Vega holds degrees from Vassar College and the University of Chicago Divinity School, and certificates from The Screenwriters Group in Chicago and Writers Boot Camp in Los Angeles.
